Meet Legend

Sweet Legend, our now 88 lb. black, 8 month Great Dane, has experienced some really rough times in his young life. He was surrendered by an elderly woman who kept him in her apartment. He had never been outside or exposed to others.

Legend was fed primarily canned green beans and weighed 62 lbs. Due to the owner's declining health she posted him as a "free puppy". Legend was then rescued and immediately was sent to the vet where he received medical care, boarding, and two weeks of training to help him adjust to so many new experiences and build his confidence.

He has come so far in a short time. Legend is all puppy, although he has gained 25 lbs, he still a bit skinny. He is long legged, with a beautiful black coat.

He is learning how much fun it is to have doggie friends to romp and play with out in our outdoor yards. He also now loves people and is soaking up lots of affection from our volunteers. He is very playful and has gained some much needed confidence since being at STAF. He now attends doggie daycare once a week at a farm to get his puppy energy out and socialize with other dogs. He has been doing great!

Legend would benefit from a fenced in yard, a home with experience with big breeds, and basic puppy training.

Please check back for updates as we get to know Legend better.

Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps! ***

• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs.
• Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
