Leela in a foster home - *Featured on PUP News!* Jack Russell Terrier Jefferson Parish, LA

Leela is no longer at the shelter and is now living the comfortable life in a foster home with one of our volunteers as she waits to be adopted. For more information, or to schedule a meeting, please email jpasfosterEB@gmail.com.
Leela was brought in as a lost dog with an eye injury that went untreated, and removal of the eye was necessary.

We don't think she had a lot of positive interaction with people and was fearful and submissive. Also being a stray, she would bolt out of her kennel, so staying out in the yard with her would be a good idea. A harness was put on her to take her out as she didn't seem to like a leash around her neck. She has a furrow under it probably from a collar being too tight for a while.
She is currently in a foster home and her eye area is healing nicely. Also she benefiting with the one-on-one interaction she is receiving and is learning to trust again. Leela is a sweet dog and eager to please and should do fine in a permanent home.
Her foster mom adds that when Leela is left alone, she puts her in the bedroom, and she doesn't bark or scratch on the door. She is housetrained and loves belly rubs.

Update 2/27:
Leela's foster mom will take her to the adoption event at Jefferson Feed on Jefferson Hwy. March 3. She says Leela is doing well and is a sweet dog who is eager to please. Her stitches are out. In fact, she feels comfortable enough that she doesn't follow her foster mom around everywhere she goes and has been playing with a stuffed toy

The Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter adoption fee is $67. The adoption fee includes vaccinations, mandatory spay/neuter, heartworm test, and microchip.
