Meet Lazaro

Meet Lazaro, aka Happy Boi. Lazaro LOVES LIFE! He is loving and cuddly, playful and joyous (his big, wide smile makes us laugh)! He's also independent - he's capable of playing on his own or enjoying a chew, always coming back for a kiss every so often. He loves to sleep with you, nap with you, lay with you and kiss you! He is truly a perfect pal with a smile as bright as the sun and wider than you'd think possible. Lazaro is 2 years old so while he still has moderate energy level, (he could surely tolerate long walks, hikes, even jogs) he doesn't have puppy energy, meaning he is not destructive and will settle in easily.

As he is very easy going, he would be fine for a young couple, family, older couple--anyone who has love to give and enjoys walks, because this guy just LOVES to go on a leash and explore, making friends with everyone he passes by. He would do well in the city or the suburbs, as an only dog or with a sibling. If he did have a sibling, I would suggest an active/playful pal, as he will try to engage in play at various times through out the day. If he is an only child, he would be happy as well, loving on you, playing with you, and enjoying the sights and sounds of your neighborhood. He loves to run around on grass, so consider taking him to the park to play whenever possible. He does not appear to have separation anxiety and has slept on the couch each time we have left him home alone.

Lazaro does well in the car and in new places. He's highly adaptable, social, easy going and playful - this guy would be an easy & meaningful addition to your life!

He is being fostered in Brooklyn and his adoption fee is $425

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where dogs can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a dog in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
