Meet Layla
Layla is a sweet young girl looking for a family to love! At about two years old, she has recently had a litter of puppies and is ready to start a new life with people that will spoil her! Layla is spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and is fully house and crate trained. In addition, she has been cat, chicken and kid-approved! She is about 40 pounds and has the softest cinnamon-sugar fur you’ll ever pet!
Layla enjoys being with her people and is very much a “Velcro” dog. She likes walks, playing with other dogs and is easy to introduce to new dog friends, as she tends to be submissive to them. Layla requires a little slower interaction to new people; she will alert bark when unfamiliar people or cars approach, but has been quick to acclimate and become friends with anyone she has met so far. She is not a fan of wheels (lawnmower, car or bicycle tires, if moving, are subject to a fierce nibbling) but with positive reinforcement training we have seen a marked improvement in only two weeks. While we do see this trait as requiring some leash or long-line use, we do not necessarily think a fenced-in yard is required for Layla. Her recall is improving every day (as is her attitude towards the lawnmower) and she would much rather stay by her people than go for an independent adventure. Layla would do fine in any home that can provide plenty of love, exercise, and some time to invest in finishing her training. We have been thrilled with her transformation since arriving in her foster home and are confident she will shine in her forever environment! Please check out her Instagram @layla_plus_four and email caravanheels@gmail.com for more information.
