Meet Layla

This beautiful 3 year old girl is Layla. She is probably a Border Collie mix. She is about 40 lbs. She is very scared in a shelter. She originally came into a shelter in April of this year. She was pregnant and tested positive for Heartworm. Because of her attitude the decision was made to go ahead and spay her and not allow her to have puppies. At that time she went out to foster. She was treated in June for her heartworm and has been on preventatives since then and is doing well health wise.

She went into a foster home and it took quite a while for her to come out of her shell but once she did she was amazing. She learned to play with toys and got along with all of the other dogs in the foster home. Because she is young the decision was made to transfer her to us to try and find her a forever home of her very own. It is our pleasure to try and find this beautiful young girl a home. But fair warning, she will require patience, time and love to settle in. She will not be adopted into a home with small children - it would just make her too nervous and when she feels cornered she will snap - nothing vicious but a good warning that she isn't comfortable with what you are doing to her.

She is housebroken and we are seeing no issues with cats. She would do well in a home with another confident dog but not one who gets pushy with her. This baby deserves the best as all she has had until April was the worse life had to offer.

An adoption application must be submitted in advance of visiting and you can find that on our website at www.patriotsforpets.com under the "Adoption" tab. Please know that it may take multiple visits with her to feel comfortable enough to transfer her to her home. She might be a good candidate for Fostering her with the ultimate goal of adoption.

Her adoption fee is $200.00. She is spayed, current on shots, current on preventatives and micro-chipped.
