Larissa (Avail March 26) Great Pyrenees & Australian Shepherd Mix Kiowa, OK

My oh my, meet Larissa!

"Larissa is a drop-dead gorgeous girl. If her blue eyes don't get you, her markings surely will! Larissa is a timid, sweet girl. She likes attention but is unsure to ask for it. Despite her being with us for a few weeks now, she is still hesitant to come in. She seems to worry that we will get upset if she tries. It makes us worry that someone was not too kind to her in the past. Larissa enjoys being close to you but does get spooked easily. She has excellent house manners, and sometimes you can hardly even tell that she is here. She does great with the other dogs and pays no attention to the cats. Larissa will need a patient home that can help build her confidence. She still cowers when you walk up to her but is slowly getting better. Once this girl fully blossoms, she is going to be a dream! With each day that goes by, she starts to relax more!"

Larissa came to our rescue after she was found and never reclaimed along with her sister Danica. Larissa is a 1.5-year-old female Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix. She currently weighs about 76lbs. Larissa does well when meeting new people. She is friendly but reserved. Larissa has not been to any public outings. As of right now, she would probably be pretty nervous. She takes a bit longer than other dogs to feel comfortable in new surroundings. Larissa has not attempted to chew on anything she shouldn't. She also has not shown to be a big barker in her foster home. Larissa's fosters have not noted any food aggression or resource guarding issues.

Larissa has a laid back personality. She has started to play with the other dogs outside now, but inside still prefers to mostly sleep. Part of that may be because she is undergoing heart-worm treatment. She may become more playful once she has finished, but not enough that she would be classified as an "energetic" dog. Larissa is not interested in playing fetch or with toys currently. We are unsure if she is a water dog or not. She did enjoy the snow, though! Larissa does ride well in the car. Her leash manners are okay but could use some more working with. Given her personality, we think Larissa would be a candidate for apartment living.

-Larissa is good with other dogs. For the most part, she is indifferent to them. She does enjoy playing with them sometimes, though.

-Larissa does fine with cats.

-Larissa has not been around any kids. Given her timid nature, they should be older and on the calmer side. Toddlers or rowdy children would terrify her.

-Lariss is potty trained.

-Larissa's foster does not kennel. She has free roam of the house at night and when no one is home and does great.

-Larissa needs to build up confidence. She is very unsure and while she is making progress she will need continued working with. She will need a family with a soft voice that is ready to give her lots of reassurance and treats!

-Larissa did come out heart-worm positive. She is currently undergoing heart-worm treatment and will be able to go home around March 26th. Her new family needs to be able to bring her home around that time.

-Larissa is being fostered in Kiowa, OK. We do not send our dogs on transport or ship them. Her new family needs to be able to pick her up.

Her adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. He will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
