Meet "Lakota" Mato (Bear)

BACKGROUND: Lakota was born in July 2017 and came to us from a shelter where his previous owners dumped him. He was purchased as a puppy and lived most of his life outside. Upon arrival, he was untrusting of humans but that has changed with force-free training, which builds confidence and positive relationships. Lakota has become such a wonderful affectionate companion.

LIKES: He enjoys catching the ball when you throw it and running around! He runs so beautifully & would benefit from a yard where he can continue running and playing as he deserves. He enjoys human companionship and going on walks. He likes carrying a stuffed animal on his walks or for comfort, it's the cutest thing!

HOME ENVIRONMENT: Lakota would do best in a home with no young children. He prefers to avoid seeing other dogs on walks. We will continue to work with him and see how he does with a female companion. He is super smart and knows that sitting makes good things happen. He is quite intuitive about his human and would make a wonderful companion.

HEALTH: Under his Farrah Fawcett-like fur, Lakota is on the thin side. It appears that he was not exercised and a bit malnourished. With the help of probiotics & exercise, he continues to gain weight and muscle. He looks & feels so much better! He is a super-fast runner & his back legs look good.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Lakota, please contact CHAAMP at CHAAMPapplication@gmail.com for an application. You may also complete an application online thru our web site, www.CHAAMP.org

CHAAMP accepts applications ONLY from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC. The information on your application will help CHAAMP determine which of our dogs is a good match for you and your family, based upon your lifestyle, other pets, etc. A home visit is required prior to all adoptions. Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and cannot be visited until you have been approved for adoption.

ADOPTION FEES
~Adult dogs, the fee is $275.00
~Older dogs (eight years old or over) the adoption fee is $100.00
~Puppies between 6 months and 1 year are $350.00
~Puppies under 6 months old are $375.00

All dogs are microchipped, spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccines. These fees help us cover these costs. The rates are higher for puppies because they require more visits to the vet and shots.

CHAAMP IS NOT A SHELTER. We are volunteers over a 7-state area dedicated to helping Malamutes in our rescue area. You can read more about Malamutes and about CHAAMP by visiting www.CHAAMP.org
