Meet Lady
Lady was rescued from Will County Animal Control after being found as a stray. She was suffering from severe hair loss and yeast overgrowth from neglect. Now she has a beautiful, shiny coat and is ready for a forever home!
Lady is about 5 years old weighing in at 70 lbs. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She clearly lived in a home and had a good amount of training before coming into rescue. She’s very comfortable in her crate, even when alone, and has done well during fireworks. She is submissive, food-motivated, intelligent, and overall, a quiet girl (never barks inside the home).
She does well meeting people and having people enter her home. Lady has been reactive to other dogs on leash (will pull towards/bark) and therefore do best as an only dog. She has a medium energy-level, meaning she can easily climb stairs, jump in the car, and run to catch a ball, but she also enjoys a few good naps.
Lady bonds strongly to her owners, including napping at your feet and following you around the house. Her favorite thing to do is play fetch with her balls in the backyard. She’ll guide you to the door to remind you. She walks well on a leash, though on occasion has been reactive to movements/objects such as a kid bouncing a basketball or a lady patting a baby. Lady is an early-riser in the morning and will likely nudge you around 6am for a bathroom break. She may need some allergy meds in the future to keep her skin comfortable as it did get irritated during summer pollen season.
Lady would do best with older children as her ball games and sprinkler play involve mouthiness. Cats are likely not ideal given her dog reactions. A yard capable of ball tosses is a must for this sweet gal!
