LADY! Poodle & Yorkshire Terrier Mix Philadelphia, PA

MEET LADY! 

Lady is a charming little Yorkie-mix who was surrendered to the rescue when her parents became sick and could no longer care for her. Lady is 11 years old, but despite her age she still has plenty of energy left, and she uses most of that energy to show her people how much she loves them. As soon as a person walks through the front door, Lady will bombard them with affection and a flurry of tail wags. When roaming around the house, Lady will make it clear that she would prefer to be in the same room, and ideally sitting in the same chair as her people. 

Lady is completely blind, so she sometimes needs a little assistance with accompanying her people as they move from room to room or up and down floors. Lady is still fit enough to walk some distances and up and down a step or two independently, but new spaces and unknown land make her nervous so it takes her a little while to feel comfortable and learn where it’s safe to walk without falling off any cliffs or bumping into any hills. When given the choice she prefers to be chauffeured/carried to her destination by her people. 

Overall Lady lives up to her name and is very well mannered. She is completely house trained, and is perfectly poised and gentle around all other animals including but not limited to big dogs and crazy puppies. Lady does not bark, but she does have a habit of whining when she can’t find her people or when she’s in a new place. Her whining is not loud or long winded, and it does reduce in frequency as she becomes comfortable, but it is her preferred way to communicate so this is something her future adopter should be prepared for. 

Lady’s perfect home would be one where her people work from home or are at home most of the day. She would do well in a house with other pets, but she would lavish in the opportunity to be someone’s one-and-only. She would also do well in a house with kids, but she’d probably prefer a home with medium to low energy where she can fully relax without too many surprises.

Lady is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She has been fully vetted including receiving a dental cleaning/extractions.
