Lady Pit Bull Terrier Mix New York, NY

Our first #OneLuckyPup case of 2021 is sweet LADY, whom we rescued from our friends at @abacoshelter in the Bahamas, where she’d been waiting since Oct 2020. We learned about her while she was on her way to have a large mammary tumor removed and asked if we could help, as #pitbulls have a harder time being locally adopted. Her biopsy was negative for cancer and she is doing INCREDIBLY well - she is dog friendly, affectionate and loves people. She’s also great with kids!

LADY is equal parts grace, gratitude and optimism. Having been through a cycle of constant breeding for years, used without regard, she deteriorated until she could literally bare no more.

LADY is positive for heartworm and Treatment to eradicate this has begun - our rescue will pay for it all - and she has an excellent prognosis. The treatment is not an obstacle and doesn’t involve very much. LADY chases joy, finding it everywhere.

LADY, age 5-6 years, approaches new people without fear, offering a fountain of soft kisses in exchange for attention. She walks with a timid curiosity, stepping towards new possibilities. She has not given up on humans, which is as joyful as it is heartbreaking. None of us deserves this dog and those of us lucky enough to meet her are better for it.
