Kota's Story

Meet Kota! He is a handsome 5–6 year old Husky mix who has come such a long way since first arriving. When he was found, he didn’t know much about manners, but he is a quick learner and is picking them up beautifully. His coat, once rough from his time wandering, is growing back in thick and gorgeous.

Kota loves people and is very food motivated, which makes training easy. He can be a little protective of his resources which is understandable given his past but is improving every day. He hasn’t been around cats and is a little too interested in chickens, so a home without small animals is best. Like many Huskies, he may have some escape-artist tendencies, so a secure yard is important.

This boy has a sweet, gentle side too. When he met a young child who was scared of dogs, Kota immediately lay down at her feet to help her feel comfortable. He has done well in the house during short visits and is respectful around other dogs.

Kota is heartworm positive but is currently undergoing slow-kill treatment. He doesn’t bark much, but he will “talk” when the train goes by. He has that classic Husky charm.

Kota is looking for a loving family that will continue his training, keep him safe, and give him the stability

Kota is a courtesy post. BLR is helping with exposure and the adoption process. Kota is UTD on vaccines, HW Positive undergoing slow kill treatment, and neutered.

Kota is in Houston. Adopter will need to provide transport.

Applications at bigloverescue.org

Big Love Rescue's Adoption Policy
All adoptions through Big Love Rescue require a completed application, a vet check, a home check, and a finalized adoption contract. We do not operate on a first-come, first-served basis — instead, we match each dog with the home that best fits their unique needs. To apply, please complete our adoption application at www.bigloverescue.org or use the link below. Once your application is approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet. Please note: we are a foster-based rescue, not a shelter. All of our dogs live in individual foster homes, so we do not have a facility where you can stop by to meet them. *Out-of-State Adoptions* A transportation fee of $300 is required in addition to the adoption fee. This fee covers the cost of professional transport and the USDA-required health certificate for interstate travel. Please note: Dogs are adopted into their forever homes before transport. In-person meetings are not possible, but we’re happy to arrange FaceTime, Zoom, and phone calls with the foster family so you can get to know your future pet. Thank you for choosing to adopt and helping us give these dogs the lives they deserve!
