Meet Koda NOT AT THE SHELTER

This pet is being offered for adoption from the owner and is NOT AT THE SHELTER. Please contact the owner directly with all questions and adoption inquiries. Koda was very malnourished and timid when found. He came out of some woods last winter, vet thinks he was born out there. A disabled neighbor had him but he kept getting out of the fence to come play with mine. I agreed to take him in until I could find a home. The neighbor had him neutured. In April he received his rabies from the humane society and also tested positive for heart worms. They said he was about a year and a half then. He was put on doxycycline and a preventative. They didn't think it was bad enough for the fast kill method and I can't afford it. He is very active (but not destructive) he loves being in the back yard waiting for the squirrels to come down and play. I've taught him to sit and shake and for the first time recently he's started to take interest in playing with his toys, I don't think he knew what to do with them at first. He loves other dogs and cats. Although he and my cat play a little rough at times. He's also good with kids. He hates the kennel but we used it for awhile (will whine a lot at first). I was afraid he may chew or tear something up left out but he never did. He's house trained and will do fine on a leash but I've recently had back surgery so I can't practice. In the house he will walk calmly beside or behind me but once outside he takes off, yet always comes right back. He's just joy, the best dog I've ever had. He learns very quick and responds best to whistling when called. I hate to get rid of him but physically and financially I won't be able to keep him much longer.
