Koda Border Collie & Poodle Mix Bellingham, WA

Koda is a sensitive young pup who's had a rough go in life so far. He was not set up for success by his previous owners and was handled using outdated training methods ("Alpha-Rolling", being jabbed in the ribs, etc) that have caused him to be a little conflicted and unsure of the world around him. Koda is eager for affection from his humans and would love a calm, patient family that can provide him with plenty of love, reassurance, and opportunities to build his confidence. Koda is a super smart dog who is reportedly 50% Border Collie, 25% Poodle, and 25% Australian Shepherd (quite the mix!!) He will need lots of outlets for his energy and plenty of activities to keep his brain occupied and engaged-- he's not a dog who will be happy lounging around the house all day. Koda loves a good squeaky toy and enjoys working for his meals thru frozen Kongs and other puzzle feeders. Koda is a diamond in the "ruff" with tons of potential to be an incredible lifelong sidekick for the right person. -Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Koda has tested fairly well with other dogs at WHS. Everyone will need to meet at the shelter first to ensure they're a good match!

-Can do Apartment Living: No, this high energy guy was mainly an outdoor dog in his previous home and would not do well in an apartment. A home with a fenced yard strongly encouraged!

-Bite History: Yes, Koda "got in the middle of two teenagers fist fighting" in his previous home which resulted in a bite. Please ask staff for more details.
