Meet Knox

Knox is 2 1/2 year old black/rust, cropped and docked male Doberman. His birthday is 8/29/2018. Knox is the sweetest boy who has the most beautiful deep brown eyes. Knox came to DAR&E because his owners have to travel often due to COVID-19 so Knox was spending a lot of time at a pet resort. His owners felt that Knox deserved a family that had time for him so they reluctantly asked DAR&E to find Knox a great new home. Knox was a favorite with the staff at the resort where he enjoyed playing with other dogs and regular grooming.
All that pampering resulted in Knox being overweight so he has been working on slimming down. I think 80-85 lbs will be a good weight for him. Knox is a very smart boy. He is quick to learn and eager to please. He has had formal training and knows various commands. Knox tends to get distracted by sounds and scents so we have been working on him looking at me (so I know he is paying attention) before he gets food or goes outside, has playtime, etc.
Here is a short video: https://youtu.be/G0cQ_rUOSGw Knox enjoys being with his people most but also enjoys chewing on nylabones and natural bones when inside. He loves toys that squeak and eating ice cubes! And of course Knox loves his food.
When outside, Knox will play fetch occasionally but often prefers chasing birds or investigating new sounds and scents. As a working breed he sees checking out the perimeter for new scents as part of his job.
Knox should have a fenced yard so he can get daily exercise and mental stimulation. A couple short videos of Knox playing: https://youtu.be/6Hi-73lOMvE, https://youtu.be/7VQB4q5RoEQ He will bark at strange noises and at strangers at first but is friendly once he has meets them. Even though Knox is over 2, he still seems very puppy like. Knox wants to please; you just need to show him what want you want from him. Knox is typically alert while riding in the car but rides well. He isn't a fan of crates but respects baby gates. Knox is a very sweet boy who will thrive in an environment where he gets lots of love and has consistent boundaries and structure. Knox is looking for someone who will have plenty of time to do things with him. If you have previous experience owning a Doberman, preferably a male Doberman, email me so we can talk about our big, lovable Knox.

DAR&E places dogs in MD, DC, VA and parts of WVA only.
