Meet Klaus

Klaus is a goofy, boisterous, happy, and mischievous boy! He's incredibly curious and likes to run and explore. Klaus came into rescue underweight and suffering from ear infections and aching hips, but since he's been in rescue and getting plenty of good care, love, and expert veterinary attention, this boy is blooming!

He's up to about 70 pounds now and still needs more weight, so he is definitely a big boy. Klaus can be a bit of a bull in a china shop and needs an outlet (or several!) for him to burn off his energy. He's not your typical senior and has the energy of a much younger dog.

He is learning to play with the other dogs in his foster home and would do best with at least one companion dog to keep him company. Klaus is a sweet but headstrong boy and will need a firm but gentle hand to lead him.

His hips do seem to bother him from time to time, but he's improving, and he loves nothing more than to be rubbed and scratched there. He does fine on stairs and navigating the couch, but on occasion needs a little help getting into and out of taller climbs like up into the car.

This boy will do anything for the right treat and praise from his humans. He loves food (don't leave anything within reach, he may help himself) and is eager to please. He shows no signs of food or toy aggression. He was very interested in cats upon arrival to his foster home but has adjusted and, while still curious, respects that kitties are friends, not food.

We recommend a home where Klaus has easy access to a fenced yard and he would love to have a dog buddy (or kitty!) as well. He's proven good with his foster family's teenage daughter, but is unknown with small children.

Klaus is a sweet boy with all the benefits of a senior with the energy and drive of a younger dog, perfect for families ready for a dog with established personality (and does he have plenty!) and still energy for fun.
