KLARA! Labrador Retriever & Boxer Mix Philadelphia, PA

MEET KLARA!

This middle-age lady is, our best guess, a lab/boxer mix. Her tail is short and nubby and she will box and paw when she wants to play! Klara came to the rescue from a local shelter. This poor girl was brought in just five minutes before closing on Christmas Eve. It was a sad start, but she fortunately didn't have to stay at the shelter long before jumping into her foster mom's truck when she was picked up. Klara's still got great energy and can't wait to find a home to match her amazing personality!

Klara is approximately 8 years old, spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, housebroken, and is living with other large dogs and cats and gets along with them great --she's a dream! She can be shy when first meeting other pets, and really benefited from joining a foster home with another dog her size who quickly helped her gain confidence. She's still growing into that confidence, and will need a patient parent who will help redirect some anxiety while she settles into a new home and allow her time and guidance to open up. Hot dogs and cheese help!

Klara's very playful, and might be too much for smaller dogs so we're hopeful she can be matched up with a family with another dog her size. She'd love a fenced backyard where she can get her daily zoomies out and is also always down for a walk in the neighborhood. She can be a little sensitive and responds to outside noises, and grumbles and barks at unknown sounds: she lets no neighbor, car, or voice go unnoticed. She responds well to redirection, but will probably frustrate neighbors if she's sharing walls while settling in. She knows basic commands and often checks in for guidance. Klara is very polite and doesn't beg for food or treats. She has shown no resource guarding. She absolutely loves stuffed animals (and needs a watchful eye so she doesn't unstuff them!) She'll play with herself, but prefers to play with her people, and she loves to sleep at your feet at bedtime. She's a delightful old soul, still full of energy, and hopeful for a patient and loving new family!
