Meet Kira

Kira is a beautiful Husky/ German Shepherd mix. She is 8 years old, 53 pounds with a delightful soul. She is friendly and meek. Kira will need a few days to adjust to her new forever home. Kira loves the outdoors, especially frolicking in the snow. She likes to run with the enthusiasm of a young pup so a fence will be a necessity. After her outside time, she will rest and relax in a comfy bed, covered with a snuggly blanket. That and some gentle petting and belly scratches is all she needs to be a happy and content dog. Kira had been raised in a home with many fur siblings, but she is a bit overbearing with the canines in her foster home. Slow introductions will be needed. She smells the foster cat, and walks away. Kira does know how to walk on a leash. Kira will need to be fed separate and is definitely food motivated. Because of her timid nature, she occasionally needs a treat to come in from the cold. Kira has been tested around kids. She did well with quiet supervised introductions, but her size is more suited for older children. She has brushed up on her housebreaking and is doing well. She is crate trained and quiet at night. She does enjoy company, and likes to be in the same room with her people. Kira will be a great pet once she acclimates slowly to new routines and people. Her adoption fee is $150.

To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the dog you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where dogs can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a dog in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
