What is Best Friends Animal Society - Houston’s adoption process?
At Best Friends, we pride ourselves on our open adoptions policy. Open adoptions means that anyone 18 years of age or older is able to adopt from us on a first come, first served basis. What this means for virtual adoptions is that the first person who submits an appointment request to meet an animal gets to virtually meet the pet and decide if they want to move forward with adoption. During the meet & greet, the adopter asks questions about the pet, the foster showcases the amazing qualities of their foster pet, and the adoption team provides medical information, advises on the adoption process, and coordinates next steps. If the adopter decides not to move forward, we move on to the next meeting request. The meeting requests are time/date stamped to ensure fairness. Our adoption fees are as follows: $50 for dogs six months and older •$100 for puppies under six months old •$25 for adult cats six months old and older •$50 for kittens under six months
