KING Black Labrador Retriever Mix Homewood, AL

King was found in Guin, Alabama with no microchip. Flyers were distributed around town and surrounding areas but he was not claimed by an owner.

King is an approximately 1-1/2 year old, neutered, lab mix male. He is black and chocolate with a few sprinkles of white. He is very smart and so sweet. He loves to run and would love to have a playmate whether human or another dog. He is good with children, (per my neighbor, King did very well with his small grandchildren) and even meets my granddaughter at the schoolbus. He will need a large fenced yard because of his activity and he likes to follow cars, not chasing in an aggressive way, but like he does not want to be left. We are working on that by using leash training and distraction. He now enjoys riding in cars and if the door is open, he is jumping in. He still has motion sickness, so we don't feed him prior to any lengthy trips and we keep the car cool to help.

We are working on housebreaking and he is doing very well with crate training. He knows sit and wait for his food. We are working on heel, stay, and come. He also has a quirk that sounds like a growl but it is a snort. This snort happens most of the time when he is excited but can happen when he is relaxed. King is very food oriented, NOT food aggressive. But because he eats very fast he has a special bowl to slow down his eating. Bowl will go with him to new family.

He is heartworm negative and is on preventive as well as flea and tick preventive. He is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered.

This sweet, lovable boy deserves a loving forever home and he will make a wonderful addition to any active family.
