Meet Kilo
UPDATE 3/14 Check out the new pics of Kilo with his best shelter pal, Miss Mary Jane!
UPDATE 3/3 Kilo, king of puppy dog eyes!
UPDATE 2/12 Guess what? We've located Kilo's "off button!" This guy no doubt has a lot of pep and will require a fair amount of daily exercise ... but the nervous energy he had upon arrival has abated a bit. We've had some lovely snuggle sessions post-playtime when he nuzzles his head into our hand and succumbs to the bliss of a full-body rub. Kilo seems particularly tuned in to his human-companion's energy--so you can almost WILL him to give in to his calmer side. He'd make a great meditation partner!
***
Kilo came to us, along with sister Nina, from an overcrowded rural shelter where they'd been surrendered by their owner. He's around 2 years old and 40 fun-loving pounds. This boy plays hard with other dogs ... it's hard to find his off-button! He also loves humans, and exhibits an almost desperate need to be close ... likely intensified by the recent turbulence in his young life.
Kilo's family-to-be will need to provide adequate exercise opportunities (a willing doggy playmate would be ideal!) while also exuding a calm, stable energy for Kilo to emulate. He needs to learn some ground rules--as in, no jumping up on people for kisses! Please check back for additional insights as we get to know Kilo better.
• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs.
• Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 75-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
