Meet Kiera

Look at this gorgeous girl! Say hello to Kiera! ♥

"I think Kiera was an outside dog. She's shy when she meets people. She's sweet but doesn't want to be touched. We are working on trust, so she will enjoy petting and back rubs. Kiera hasn't had any accidents in the house. She sleeps a lot. Acts like she hasn't been inside a house very often so is timid about exploring it inside. It's been rewarding watching her heal. She's gaining weight. Her skin is healing and her hair is growing back.
Kiera was more active when Burl Ives was here. She tried engaging him in play, bouncing and zooming around him. That was a joy to watch."

Kiera is a gorgeous girl who hasn't had the best life. She was rescued by OAA after it was reported that some dogs were living alone on a property. Their owner had fallen ill and was in the hospital and there was no one else around to care for them. When they reached out to us about intaking this girl, we knew she would soon be part of our fluffy butt family!

Kiera is a 10 year old female Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix. She currently weighs about 64lbs, but is still on the thin side. She came to us with a lot of hair loss, but thanks to loving care of her foster it has been coming back in nicely. Kiera is happy when meeting new people, but also a bit shy. She wants to be social, but at the same time can be reserved. Kiera has not been to any public outings, but given her age and personality she is probably more of a homebody. Her personality is calm and laid back. Kiera has excellent house manners, and can be given free roam of the house. Kiera has not shown to be a big chewer in her foster home. She hasn't been super vocal, but she does bark if there is reason too.

Kiera is uninterested in playing fetch. We are unsure if she is a water dog or not. Kiera does sometimes play with toys. She seems to be slowly figuring out what they are. Kiera has not shown to have any food aggression or resource guarding in her foster home. Kiera doesn't seem to be a big hugger and doesn't jump on people. Kiera walks okay on a leash, but could use some more working with. Kiera does currently get car sick. We are unsure how Kiera would do in an apartment setting. When no one is home or at night, she stays in the sunroom and does great! Kiera is potty trained, but is NOT kennel trained.

Kiera is your typical senior. She is calmer, she is low maintenance and a total sweetheart once she settles in. She has started prancing around like a puppy at times, and it is the cutest thing ever! If you are interested in this beauty, here are some things to note

-Kiera is shy around other dogs. She mostly keeps to herself. However, she is in love with the foster puppies her foster currently has. She is even playful with them at times.

-Kiera is good with cats.

-Kiera has not been around any kids. Given her age, they should be older. She probably can't handle the energy of a toddler, but would probably love the attention from an older kiddo.

-Kiera is being fostered in Sand Springs, OK. We do ask her adoptive family be able to pick her up in person, even if they are out of state.

Kiera isn't really looking for much in her new home. She is looking for a calmer home environment. One that has lots of love to give, but also knows she is an older gal and sometimes likes her peace. If you want to spoil this girl through her golden years, then please apply to adopt her at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Her adoption fee is $150. That will include her DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella. She will also have bloodwork done and be spayed. She will be heart-worm and ehrlicia negative, and be current on her preventatives. She will also be micro-chipped.
