Meet Keno
Everybody clear the way for Keno! This boy is HUGE weighing in at 150 pounds. Keno is a Lab/Mastiff mix who was rescued from a shelter in Kentucky, after being surrendered by his owner who had too many doggies. Keno is roughly 7 years old, has the stature of a lab but the mass of a Mastiff.
Keno is a complete love bug for sure. He loves to give kisses and curl up next to your feet and even in your lap. That’s right, this 150 pound dog is a big ole lapdog! Keno has meet a variety of dogs in his foster, definitely prefers the very low key seniors and is over the hyper ones lol! We believe Keno may have been large and in charge at his former crowded home.
This guy is ready to live out his golden years as your own and only. He says he has had enough of being the big man of the house.
Keno would do best with a fenced in yard as he is very strong and needs some leash work. He is friendly to people but would most likely knock the little kiddos down as he is strong. Keno seems to be house trained and has had zero accidents inside. This hunk is very sweet, dog friendly, and could stand to lose some poundage, but don't tell him I said that!
Once at our vet's office, this poor sweetie tested positive for Lyme, but that hasn’t affected his happy personality one bit! Lyme is a tick borne disease that is not contagious to other dogs or humans but will remain in his system, throughout his life. Keno may have an occasional flare-up which would be indicated by joint pain/inflammation, limping, lethargy and possible loss of appetite. Typically a dose of antibiotics is enough to make the disease go dormant again. To help control the Lyme, Keno will need a yearly Lyme vaccine. Should he have multiple flare ups in a short amount of time, his kidneys could be affected. Lyme has become more prevalent in the southern states, and many dogs with this disease have lived long happy lives!
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
