Kenji Collie & Siberian Husky Mix Stephenville, TX

Kenji is a collie/husky mix who will turn 2 years old in November. His owner released him to DFW Collie Rescue due to moving and he would not be allowed in the house where she was moving and he had always been an indoor dog and used (without training) as an emotional support dog. His previous owner was home most of the time & his foster mom is home most of the time so he will do best in a home where there is companionship most of the time. He is house trained and loves being indoors. He is high energy when outside and has a strong prey drive so will probably not do well with cats. In his short life he has been mostly an only dog, but is currently in a foster home with an older female dog who can get agitated with his playfulness, so he would need a female playmate about his size and age. He loves kids and is happy to play with them but will do best with kids over 5 because he can sometimes overwhelm them because he likes to wrestle. He loves to go for walks and walks well with another dog, but does like to lead. He is a good rider and crate trained. He is nearly perfect in the house, does not tear up anything- well sometimes his chew toys. He is very sensitive to correction and a loud NO is sometimes too much for him. He asks forgiveness almost immediately and is very submissive after he does something wrong. He does jump sometimes but is working on keeping all 4 feet on the ground. Kenji can be a barker and needs a home where someone is home most of the time. He can bolt through an open door so doors and yard gates should be locked at all times.
