Meet Keegan - Adoption Pending

At five and a half months old we can’t believe Keegan hasn’t been snatched up, but we know his family is out there and we won’t stop searching for them.

Keegan came to us at six weeks old with his Mom Kate and four siblings. They were brought into our local Humane Society as strays and were transferred to Wags due to lack of space at the shelter. Since then they have all slowly been adopted, except him! We admit, he was a bit of an awkward pup, but Keegan has matured handsomely. Some of his siblings looked very much like Cattle Dogs, so we think he might have that somewhere in him although Keegan takes after his Mom with a more of a Shepherd black/tan look (possibly with a splash of Husky?). He should stay medium sized and right now is pretty leggy!

Keegan is down for anything, zoomies, toys, sticks, dancing and more, if you wanna do it he is your man! He is a social pup who is always happy and friendly. In fact, if he thinks you are being boring he will “complain”; moaning and groaning in the most hilarious of ways. He likes to be close to his people, laying at your feet and giving hugs if you let him. Keegan also considers himself to be your personal helper and will get right in with whatever you are doing in order to give a helping paw. Keegan rides well in the car and is learning “sit”, “paws off the table”, and “kisses”. Keegan is also doing very well with his leash training and is just a good boy. He is a sweet, happy dog who would love an active home to keep him entertained.

Keegan’s foster has done a great job of working with him on his potty training and he is almost completely trained, he will even go downstairs by himself as a sign he needs to go… if you are watching. Keegan is also crate trained and does well in the crate overnight or when his foster has to leave the house, like any puppy he prefers to be a part of the action and if he hears you moving around in the morning he will express his desire to be with you. Keegan loves all people, even kids, however he is a puppy and might accidentally knock the young ones down in his enthusiasm, but is working diligently on that. To top it off Keegan is currently in a home with a kitten and other dogs and does well with both. He can be a little rough at times with the young kitten, but as it continues to grow it is showing Keegan who is boss and Keegan is taking notice and learning to respect boundaries. He can be a little shy with new, nosy dogs, but it doesn’t take him long at all to warm up and start to play. It is important to note that Keegan needs a home with no chickens, his current foster keeps them separate which is fine but if there was a way to get to them Keegan would… yum, chicken! We love this boy and know you will too!

If you think Keegan may be the one for you, please go to our website at www.wagstorichesanimalrescue.org and fill out an application to adopt. Please be sure to include a vet reference as regular vet care is important to us for the health of all our adopted dogs. With approval and a $295 adoption donation, he will be ready to accompany you on all of life’s many adventures! Keegan will be neutered, microchipped, fecal tested clean of internal parasites and up to date on all his vaccinations, including rabies.
