Here is more about Kato!
12-year-old, 70-pound Boxer/Retriever mix
Crate-Trained: Yes, however she is well-behaved when left to roam
Kato came to Pet Haven after spending two and a half years in a shelter. She is an absolutely lovely gal who displays what her foster mom calls “resting scary face” when she looks alert. But behind that stare is all sweetness and love. Her goofy personality has shone through since being in her foster home!
And do not let Kato’s age fool you! She loves to jog and sprints across the backyard in her quest to chase off squirrels and enjoys daily walks. She is very smart and learned sit and down and been wonderful on leash while in foster care. When she is not on walks, chasing fauna in the yard, learning tricks, or eating, she loves to take long naps.
We are sorry to say that she thinks cats are for chasing and has shown reactivity towards other dogs who do not ignore her and needs to be in a pet-free home. After two years in the shelter though, we think she has earned having a monopoly on all of the attention and belly rubs anyway!
Kato would love to find a forever home with a fenced backyard where she can stretch her legs and patrol for squirrels. Her forever home should also continue to work on her with building up confidence and slow, controlled socialization. And most of all, lots of love and affection!
