Katie Labrador Retriever Mix Schaumburg, IL

Hello! Katie here! I’m a 2 & 1/2 year old, 35-pound, female Lab mix from Kentucky. My foster mom kept the name they gave me at the shelter to make it easier on me. I respond to the name now and think my name fits.

I’m getting the hang of this potty training thing; I had a few accidents on my first night but foster mom has me on a schedule and that has helped a great deal. As far as the crate, it takes a few minutes for me to settle down but then I'm okay. I go in my open crate for nap time, sleep in the dog bed for heavy duty naps, and get to join foster mom in her bed at night with my foster siblings.

My happy list: playing with the resident dog, toys, children, cuddling, chasing squirrels, going for walks. My scary list: loud noises like horns and big trucks, unfamiliar men. I prefer slow introductions with men and the chance to proceed at my own comfort level. I’ll be a good watchdog as I bark when I hear strange noises. Oh, I’d do best in a home without cats.

Because of my past, I’m a little shy initially, but earn my trust and I’ll be yours forever. Come meet me this Saturday? The name’s Katie. I’ll be waiting.
