Kate's Story
Meet Kate!

Kate’s journey hasn’t been the easiest—but her heart is pure gold. She was found roaming the streets with her brother before being picked up by Romulus Animal Control. When the shelter needed help during inspection season, we welcomed her into our care, and she quickly stole our hearts with her sweet nature and bright spirit.

Kate is as gentle as she is energetic—a wonderful mix of soft eyes and big zoomies. While she has a naturally calm and affectionate core, she’s also full of playful, puppy-like enthusiasm that brings so much joy to the people around her. As she’s settled into safe, comfortable home environments, she’s shown that this energy balances beautifully with her ability to relax, snuggle in, and enjoy quiet time with her humans.

For the past few months, Kate has been thriving in a loving foster home, where she’s proven to be a social butterfly with everyone she meets—people, dogs, and even cats. She’s been living with both dogs and feline friends, and her playful, friendly nature shines in the home. Once she’s gotten her zoomies out, she transforms into a total cuddle bug who loves curling up beside you for attention and affection.

Kate also underwent a few surgeries for entropion (a condition where her eyelashes were painfully rubbing against her eyes). You may notice some flareups of sorts when she's in new environments and may be feeling a bit more energy, but as soon as she's back in her safe space, you often can't tell that she had anything done at all. Her eyes may always look a little unique, but her comfort and vision have greatly improved—and she’s feeling better than ever.

Kate would thrive in a moderately active home with adopters who appreciate a lovable, spirited pup who knows how to both play and snuggle. She’d likely enjoy having another friendly dog companion, and she’s been wonderfully tolerant and curious around cats. While she adores people, we think she’d do best in a home with older, dog-savvy kids who can respect her energy and boundaries.

If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, playful sweetheart who just wants to be your best friend, Kate might be your perfect match. Come meet her—she has a way of brightening the whole room.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like to meet Kate, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she has received.

**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth.
Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
