Katalina Basset Hound Kiowa, OK

Every girl needs a photo-shoot and told how beautiful she is! Since Katalina's last photos were from the first time she was with us, we figured it was past due that she get new photos and a bio done on her! ♥

Life can be real ruff. I found myself dumped somewhere all alone in the middle of nowhere. I don't know exactly how long I was on my own, but I do know that it was absolute hell for me. By the time I was found I had little wounds all over me, was only skin and bones, had a part of my ear missing from who knows what, cherry eye in both my eyes, and was pretty much blind. A nice lady took me in and helped nurse me back to health some. When no one claimed me, I ended up coming into this rescue. The vet was able to fix the cherry eye, but sadly my eyesight will not be returning. I recently saw an eye specialist and they believe it was a birth defect. My vision won't get better, but it also won't get worse. It simply is now. While I am partially blind, I don't let that stop me. I am still the happiest, most playful pup around! I truly am a very special girl and I am looking for the absolute best in my new home!

Some may have remembered me being adopted. Sadly, that only lasted a couple of months before my owner had to surrender me back due to being allergic to me.

My name is Katalina and I am a 3-year-old female Basset Hound. I currently weigh about 30lbs and have the cutest ears and stubby legs around! Here is what my foster says about me

"Katalina has to be the most playful dog that I have ever met. This girl LOVES to play. She will play with the other dogs, she will play with toys, she will play toys with the other dogs, she will play chase with her people outside, and just loves to have fun! She loves doggie beds and they are an absolute must in her new home. Katalina is your shadow. She will follow you everywhere. She has an easy time slipping into a closed room when you enter since she is a little tuba! She will happily come upstairs to meet the kiddo if she thinks they are sleeping too long. Katalina does great with other dogs and pays no mind to the cats. Katalina is a vocal girl and will let you to the other dogs know if she wants to play. She has no problem playing with dogs twice her size and often wins! This girl has such an amazing light inside of her, and despite her past is one of the happiest dogs I have ever met!"

Alright folks, one step down. Now you know how I came to the rescue and what my foster thinks about me. Time to share more about my personality!

I do well when meeting new people. I may initially be nervous, but after a bit will start giving out kisses! I have not been to any public outings, so am unsure how I would do. I am a very playful girl! I am always by your feet and always wanting to play. However, when I pass out...I pass out. I have not shown to be a big chewer in my foster home. I absolutely love playing with toys and expect lots of them in my new home! I am unsure if I am a water dog or not. I have not shown to have any signs of resource guarding issues in my foster home.

I have not been on any walks at my foster home, but have done well on the leash the few times they have taken me somewhere. I ride excellent in the car and typically plop right down in the backseat. However, when the door opens I am ready to get out! Given my personality, I think I would do well in an apartment setting. When no one is home and at night, I have free roam of the house and do excellent.

??Katalina's Pawtastic Must-Knows ??

I am really hoping that my new home will be my forever, so here are some things to note about me

? I am excellent with other dogs. It is actually a must that my new family has at least another playful dog in my new home. They also need to be a bit bigger. I play pretty rough at times and need someone who can match my playfulness.

? I am good with cats and pay them no mind.

? I have not been around any young children. The youngest kid I have been around is a college student when she visits home and I love her!

?I am mostly potty trained. I do still have accidents, mainly after I played like crazy. I definitely need a strict schedule on being let out or a doggie door in my new home. I have no experience with being in a kennel and want the same in my new home. With my limited vision, it would freak me out.

? I do not have any food aggression, but I am a total chowhound. If there is any food left I will scarf it up. I should be monitored at feeding time otherwise I will sneak my head into the other dog's food bowls.

?I am being fostered in Kiowa, OK. We do not send our dogs on transports or ship them. This means my new family needs to pick me up, even if they are out of state.

?My adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
