Kali - Deaf Great Dane Lakeland, FL

This beautiful lady is Kali, she is a little over a year old Great Dane and she is deaf. She had been with us a little while when she began to display some fear based behavior issues. When you can't hear and you haven't learned any other way to communicate with humans - imagine how scary that would be.

Kali has been placed with our wonderful trainer at Salt Dragon Farm & Canine Behavior for training, confidence building and most of all establishing a form of communication that both human and Kali can understand and work with. We are told that Kali has had her "lightbulb" moment and is responding beautifully, albeit slowly, to learning how to communicate in a positive manner.

We are looking for a special home for Kali. The home needs to have giant breed experience along with deaf dog experience. We will not be adopting Kali to a home with children, although she has done well meeting them. Her new owners would need to be able to make a couple of trips to the training facility to meet Kali and work with her to be certain the placement will be successful. The training facility is located in the Bushnell, FL area.
