Beautiful. It’s a word. With 9 letters. But if you think that’s too many letters, here’s a new way to spell it...K-A-I. Coincidentally, Kai just happens to be this boy’s name. And he’s beautiful. So Kai could be a synonym for beautiful. I really don’t think this idea is going to catch fire, but hey...you never know. Kai is a Great Pyrenees mix. He is six years old and weighs 75 pound. He has gorgeous hair and he’s very sweet and affectionate. But his manners need work. We can do that! We want to find him a special home and he might need to be an “only” dog. He will be okay with older responsible children. The inmates are working on teaching him to share....so that might change!

Kai is in the Paws in Prison program where dogs receive obedience training. This dog is expected to graduate from Paws in Prison on March 27. The dogs in this program are trained under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. For that reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive their training journal. This journal documents everything from entering the facility, daily training progress, and interactions with trainers.
