Meet Kahlua

Kahlua is ready to share her story! ?

"Oh forever home, oh forever home, how I can not wait to find you...oh forever home...."

My name is Kahlua and I am a tiny but mighty girl. I came into the rescue weighing only 3lbs, which is 4-5lbs less than all my siblings. I can be quite feisty though and love to play, run, and sleep! I am around 8 weeks old and believed to be a German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix. I ended up homeless when my siblings and I were dumped out in the country. Luckily, some nice people witnessed this and took us in. They reached out for help with placing us, and before we knew it my siblings and I(they are 9 of us) all ended up here!

Now I am on the search for my forever family and I am hoping that it may be with you! ♥

While I am super excited to find my forever family, I do not want to rush into anything. I want you and I both to be sure that we are a match! To help with that, I had my fosters fill out this questionnaire about me.

-How does your foster act when meeting new people?
Excited!

-Does your foster jump on people?
No.

-Has your foster been to any public settings?
Yes, to several stores and the airport. She’s done great!

-Does your foster like going on walks?
Yes.

-Do you think your foster would enjoy going for hikes?
Not quite yet but she loves to be outside so eventually!

-Is your foster leash trained?
Not quite but working on it.

-How does your foster do on car rides?
Excellent! She sleeps on the floor of the backseat!

-Describe your fosters energy level?
Active and Playful.

-Is your foster a big chewer?
No destructive chewing yet but loves shoes and socks.

-Does your foster like to play fetch?
She’s learning it!

-Does your foster like to play in the water?
No.

-Does your foster play with Toys?
Yes.

-Do you think your foster would be okay with free-roam of the house even if you are away?
No, she’s too young.

-Does your foster have food aggression?
No.

-Does your foster resource guard?
No.

-Is your foster good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How does your foster act around other dogs?
Playful and not afraid. She is a bit fearless!

-Does your foster need another dog in their new home?
Yes, only if it’s a young pup that likes to play too though.

-Is your foster good with cats?
Unsure as she is not being fostered around any.

-Is your foster good with kids?
Yes, she has been around kids ages 4 and 6.

-Where does your foster stay when no one is home.
In the kennel.

-Is your foster potty trained?
No, working on it. She’s smart and a quick learner.

-Is your foster kennel trained?
Working on it.

-Where does your foster sleep at night?
In bed with the foster parents. She will wake me up if she has to go potty. She will whimper.

-Would your foster dog do good in an apartment?
Probably not.

-Is your foster a big barker?
She barks when she wants attention or if a human is giving another dog attention.

-What would be your fosters ideal home?

An ideal home for Kaluha would look like a home with kids and a younger dog. She’s been around older dogs that are set in their ways and don’t want to put up with her and all she wants to do is play. She needs a younger pup sibling and younger, energized kids. She loves being held and cuddled.

-Is there anything else you would like to mention about your foster dog?

Kaluha is young and has a lot to learn but she’s a quick learner. She’s still not responding to her name but she responds to you getting excited with her. Her favorite place to lay during the day is under the Christmas tree on the tree skirt. She barks if she wants attention and wants to play. She will also bark if another dog is getting attention and not her. If a human is on the couch and she wants on the couch, she will also bark. She’s very demanding and bossy because she was the runt. She wants to play with all dogs and doesn’t care how big they are. Given how she is pushy about playing, she probably wouldn't be a good fit with older dogs that want their peace. She loves chasing kiddos and playing with them. She loves to go along with us on car rides. She does not like being left alone. She has a great appetite and loves her toys. She needs 100% attention and for someone to work with her on potty training and obedience. She loves to puppy chew on hands which I’ve been correcting. She’s going to make a great companion with the right playful, energetic family!

Now that you have heard from my foster, let us talk about the logistics of you getting to bring me home! ?

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Where are you being fostered?
I am being fostered in Edmond, OK.

-Would I need to come to pick you up?
Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?

-Can I adopt you even though I don't live in Oklahoma?
Yep, I am not opposed to living in another state!

-How much is your adoption fee?

My adoption fee is $275.

That includes two sets of puppy shots and wormings. I will also have had a bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
