Meet Juno, a charismatic little furball who is always ready to steal the show! He is a 4-year-old 13-pound Jack Russel Terrier mixed with Chihuahua.
Juno thrives on attention and affection, eagerly welcoming pets and cuddles from everyone he meets, including strangers. With his small stature but mighty bark, Juno likes to make his presence known, especially when it comes to meeting new friends. He's not just vocal for the sake of it; he's really just trying to say hello!
Juno's spirit is unmatched; he's friendly, playful, and an absolute cuddle enthusiast. He's particularly fond of children and is gradually warming up to smaller dogs, though he tends to be a bit territorial around larger ones. It's important to note that Juno has a strong personality and may show a streak of defiance. He will do best with a family that can provide firm, loving guidance to help him become his best self.
Napping is one of his favorite past times. He loves to go in his kennel and nap throughout the day. He can be snappy and grumpy at times when he wants his way - just stand firm and he will be ok.
One of Juno's lovable quirks is his undeniable love for food. There's no opening a bag or container without him being right there to investigate. This little guy is sure to be a loyal companion, eagerly offering his friendship and protection to his future family.
He loves multiple walks per day - each about 15-20 minutes. He can walk for much longer sometimes for three miles. He is very curious of strangers - he will bark at them but once he sniffs he is generally fine. Although he likes children immediately and always allow them to pet him.
Juno is used to being the only dog in the house but he loves to play so a companion dog may be good for him. He has been around other small dogs but if the dog was overly playful or assertive, he did not like that. He also does not like bigger dogs. So a calmer little dog that wants to play equally would be fine.
Juno is waiting to bring his boundless energy and love into your life!
From Juno's foster mother.
He is being rehomed because his owners are moving to another country. They tried various options to take him with them but are not able to. Juno was adopted by them from 4 Lucky Dogs in November 2021. Once a dog is part of our rescue, we will help rehoming him/her if the need occurs.
He is a genuinely happy dog, and his personality shows so much enthusiasm for life. Words to describe him are energetic, sweet, outgoing, loving, and adaptable. His eyes are big and black which gives him that adorable look. His tail wags eagerly wanting to be part of any action going on in the house. If being held or sitting on a lap he will sneak in a kiss showing you he is pleased.
Juno would be fine as an only dog or in a home with one other dog. He like to be involved in things and moves non-stop so if the environment is active, he will be fine. He likes to cuddle next to someone, sit on laps, or lay at a person's feet to be near them. Playing is another activity Juno likes especially with small toys - those type fit in his small mouth which entertains him. He will carry a toy around from room to room, squeak a toy with delight, or shake a toy vigorously then throw it to go retrieve.
He is house-trained and crate trained. If tired during the day Juno will go into his crate on his own to rest. During the night he sleeps in his crate not making a sound which makes it a peaceful night for the fosters. If the fosters leave to go somewhere and put him in the crate, he initially barks thinking "take me with you" then calms down and sleeps the entire time they are gone (Ring cameras are very useful for fosters!).
Juno likes to tell you exactly what is on his mind! For example, "I want this" or "please pay attention to me" or "you are hanging with the other dog instead of me" by quick barks or whines then quiets down. His favorite room is the kitchen especially if he sees someone preparing a meal, he is right there at his/her feet seeing if any will be for him (or in his eyes helping cook!).
He likes walks enjoying every moment of it smelling, peeing, and looking around. He is a male who likes to mark at any chance he gets. He also may bark on the walk if he wants to communicate an alert to his owner or a message to another dog.
Examples the foster family has seen include if a family member gets home he bark-talks to tell them hello, or if someone he does not know comes into the house he bark-talks to ask who they are. Then once he knows everything is OK, he excitedly greets them.
The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years; therefore, Juno's adopter will need to be prepared to keep him for around 11 more years so he will not have to move to a different home again.
Juno's adoption fee is $500. This dog comes microchipped, neutered, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, and heartworm tested. He is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Valrico Florida area.
***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***
