Meet Junie B. Jones: Your Next Best Friend!

Junie B. Jones is a 7.5-year-old, spayed female Pitbull/Retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. She’s currently located in HOUSTON, Texas, but don’t worry—she can transport out of state once an adopter is approved!

Junie B. has a story of resilience and hope. She was saved from a heartbreaking fate at the local municipal shelter in Houston, where she was on the euthanasia list. Though little is known about her past, it was evident she had faced hardship, as she arrived covered in wounds and scabs, likely from dog fights or attacks.

Since her rescue, Junie B. has made incredible progress with a trusted trainer and behaviorist. She has done exceptionally well with the other dogs at her trainer’s home, forming a special bond with one of his male dogs, affectionately known as her "Handsome Warren." Given her past, Junie benefits from **slow introductions** to other dogs in her home. However, she has shown no signs of reactivity and remains calm when passing by other dogs on leash.

Slow introductions involve gradual acclimation, starting with separate spaces for about a week, progressing to crate-and-rotate setups, and eventually supervised face-to-face interactions. Once the process is complete, Junie has shown she can successfully integrate with other dogs.

Don’t let her age fool you—Junie B. is still a "Party Animal" at heart! She loves to run, rollerblade, and stay active. Her trainer takes her on one-mile runs, where she shines as an enthusiastic and dedicated companion. If your New Year’s resolution includes getting more exercise, Junie is the perfect partner to keep you motivated. She’s earned the title of "The Boss of Lunch" when it comes to fitness goals—you’ll never skip a workout with her by your side!

At home, Junie has impeccable manners. She’s fully potty trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. She rides nicely in the car and is incredibly friendly with humans. Junie is a photogenic queen who will quickly become your camera’s favorite subject. Despite her active side, she’s also a sweetheart who loves to snuggle on the couch, offering kisses and cuddles like the true romantic she is.

While we don’t have history of her interactions with cats or small children, Junie would do best in a home with older kids (10+ years) or children who understand and respect animal behavior cues. With proper introductions and supervision, Junie’s gentle nature suggests she could adapt well to a family environment, even with younger children.

Junie B. is a special dog who has been waiting patiently for her Furever Ever After. She would thrive as the only dog in a loving home, where she can bask in the attention she so richly deserves. Could you be the one to give Junie the happy ending she’s been waiting for? She’s ready to shower you with love, loyalty, and unforgettable moments. Don’t wait—apply today to make Junie B. a part of your family!

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
