Meet Joy

Joy was found in playing in a dog park in Texas with a few other dogs. They were having a blast at the dog park......but no owners were around! She (and the other dogs) were brought into a shelter and the shelter staff knew immediately that Joy belonged in a home, not the shelter. According to the shelter staff, she is way too kind, sweet, and loving to be stuck there. Joy made her way here to Colorado and has been with a foster, getting ready for her forever home!

Joy is just about 1 year old, and 40 lbs. She is such a bizarre, yet SO cute, beautiful, and cool breed mix. Her foster actually did a DNA test on her, and these were the results: 59% Staffy, 24% chow chow, 7% cesky terrier, 5% Golden retriever, and 2% Shar pei! It is crazy how much of the Shar Pei look she has, while only being 2%! She is a beautiful mutt! Joy is potty trained and has excellent recall. Her foster also has had her professionally trained. She can sit, stay, lay down and stay in "place." She's an expert snuggler and incredibly smart.

After getting Joy settled in with a foster here in Colorado, we have learned a lot about her. We think that Joy may have been used as a bait dog in dog fighting. Despite that, once she has been introduced, she LOVES other dogs! She is being fostered with a jack russle mix, who is her best friend. She is great with other dogs, though a slow introduction is helpful!
We have noticed that she is slightly leash reactive, (meaning she will bark at another dog if she is walking on leash and sees one. Never has done more than bark). She is a mouthy player (always soft though), meaning she likes to softly play nibble on your hands. It's quirky, but cute! We would want her in a home without kids, just so that wouldn't scare them! We think she would thrive in a quiet, calm home, and with someone who is willing to work with her socialization. An adopter who is patient and loving, will be the best adopter for this sweet girl!

Joy is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
