Journey's Story
Hey there, I’m Journey—and my name says it all. ??

The first part of my life wasn’t easy. I spent over a year neglected and starved in an outdoor kennel with no shelter. Then, I waited another 17 months at a pound before REAL Rottweiler Rescue stepped in and gave me a second chance. Now I’m living in a foster home, learning what love feels like, how to live in a real house, and how to just be a dog. It’s been quite the ride… but I’m still hoping the best part is yet to come.

I might be an American Bulldog/Terrier mix, but what I definitely am is one-of-a-kind. I’ve got a heart-shaped spot on my side, a diamond around one eye, and eyeliner that’s always flawless. Oh—and I’m deaf, but don’t let that scare you! I know how to sit by touch and come when I see the right signal. I’m smart and willing—I just need someone who will meet me where I am.

When I love, I LOVE—deeply and completely. I’m very affectionate and prefer not to be left alone too long. I love walks, jogs, and adventures (though I do pull on the leash, and I’m strong—like, really strong). I’ll need continued training and a patient human who understands that I’m still learning how to trust the world.

The truth is, I’m stranger-reactive and dog-selective. I bark at new people and dogs, so in-person meet-and-greets are a must. I’d do best as your one and only, but with the right calm female dog, I might be able to share space. Because I’m nervous around strangers, I need a home without kids—nothing personal, I just do better in a predictable, low-traffic environment.

I’ve passed my cat test (yep, you read that right!), I don’t have a bite history, and I show no food aggression. I’ve learned how to relax in a bath, chew a bone, and I’m working every day to become the best version of me. I love water, even if it sometimes gives me ear infections. Fetch? Not really my thing. Grass? Makes me itchy. But being loved? Being understood? That’s all I want.

I’ve been waiting three years for the right person to come along—not just anyone, but someone strong, patient, protective, and committed. Someone who understands that I may always have a few quirks… but I also have a heart that’s loyal, brave, and full of love.
