Meet JOSIE GROSSIE!!!

This is none other than Josie Grossie!!! Our sweet Joes was surrendered to a pound south of here by a person who said she was being abused, with a scorching case of mange to boot. But not the contagious kind of mange. Just the kind that gets you bad nicknames from late 90’s Drew Barrymore rom-com’s in this rescue. And we LOVE these mangy makeovers around here. Watching the dog underneath the infection bloom with a little vetting, care, patience and coconut oil is such great rescue fuel. But when that dog underneath is also an absolute GEM on the inside? JACKPOT.

The cons:
1. Leash skills. She walks the way your best friend did in college while arm locked on you on the way home from a much-too-enjoyed Saturday night. “I TOTALLY KNOW WHERE IM GOING STOP HOLDING ME UP OKAY OH HEY WAIT WHAT IS THAT LETS STOP IT SMELLS LIKE FOOD” and so on.
2. Herding. She has the tendency to herd due to what we assume is her genetic lineage. I hesitate to drop this in the “cons” category because she doesn’t nip or cause harm, she simply organizes. Josie LOVES to round up toys of all shapes and sizes. Rounding up puppies younger than her is also extremely her get down with double points awarded.
3. She still cowers when corrected. It’s a heartbreaker. Someone did a number on this girl.
4. The jumping up. Oh LAWD, the JUMPING.UP. It’s an itch too deep that she can’t NOT scratch it. When Josie feels insecure, she jumps. When she feels happy, she jumps up. When it’s a day that ends in the letter Y, she jumps up. HOWEVER! She doesn’t jump to knock you down, nip, or anything nefarious. It’s like she’s somehow trying to soothe both herself and you by doing the most obnoxious, unsoothing thing ever. Josie’s amazing foster mom has worked diligently to correct this behavior, and it’s fleeting now, but it’s very likely it will resurface in new surroundings.
NOW THEN. ***cracks knuckles****
The PROS:
1. Josie is an utter and total COMPUTER. This dog is so smart, she knows what you’re thinking before you’re actually thinking it. (Clean it up. JOSIE IS WATCHING.) This means that
a. she trains VERY easily
b. she needs a job, and if you don’t employ her, the likelihood of her freelancing is HIGH
c. her emotional intelligence is off the charts. Having a bad day? Joes will fix it. Or wear herself out trying.
2. Totally house broken. She’s never once had an accident in rescue.
3. This dog is one of the friendliest dogs we’ve ever seen. Cats, dogs, people, doesn’t matter. She’s here to love you. Submissive personality.
4. The athletic ability in this dog is absolutely incredible. If you ever had any aspirations to own a dog involved in any kind of athletic activity, this is one thousand percent your girl.

Josie had a really crappy start to life, but it certainly isn’t ending that way. She is fully vetted, and ready to be the lifelong companion you have always wanted! Apply to take home this once in a lifetime gal at thephoenixremixrescue.com!
