Josie Maltese & Shih Tzu Mix Spring, TX

Josie is a semi-senior girl that is looking for a forever. She needs a special home due to an inoperable tumor on her front left leg. We discovered the tumor and had it checked out at the vet. After a biopsy we learned it is malignant and is in a spot that makes it very difficult to remove. The other alternative would be to amputate her leg and we don’t feel this is a good option either. Josie gets around perfectly and has no pain at this time. She is a spunky girl and we don’t want to take away her spunk by removing her leg. If she were in pain and suffering maybe our decision would be different, but she is living her best life despite the tumor and we want her to stay that way.
Josie lives in a foster home with other dogs and cats too. She gets along with everyone and has the sweetest and mildest disposition. She loves meeting new people and is extremely friendly and happy. She enjoys naps in her bed and also loves catching some rays outside in the sun. Josie is about 85% housetrained and knows how to use a doggie door. She’s a precious little girl and just needs a home that understands that she may have some difficulty in the future due to her leg, but we feel she has a lot more time to enjoy being loved and having a happy future, however long that may be. Josie is not a hospice foster, but rather, an adoptable dog that needs an understanding adopter that will make the right choice when her health does fail.
