Josie Beagle Troy, VA

3/30/18 - Sweet Josie came to Green Dogs Unleashed heavily pregnant, ready to give birth to 5 sweet pups. She had been living in an 'outdoor' situation and was rescued by an awesome local group that helps dogs living in less than satisfactory conditions. Given her past circumstances, Josie is just as sweet as she can be. While she is still a little leery of people, she is warming up to receiving attention, and just needs that 'right' person to come along and fall in love with her. She does well with other dogs, so a laid back canine sibling or two would be great for her.

Josie is between 2 and 4 years old and is now about 24 lbs. We think that given the right family, she will warm up fairly quickly. Children who are old enough tol respect her past and understand that she will need a little space [at first] to get comfortable in her new surroundings, would be best. She will need a little patience from everyone. She was in a pen with several other dogs, so she is used to being part of a pack.

We are looking for a family who will make Josie the center of their attention. She WILL be an indoor dog - she deserves that much. She will need a fenced yard so that she can feel free to run and play when outside. We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
