JONESY Beagle & Bluetick Coonhound Mix Falmouth, ME

We are so happy to introduce Jonesy! This handsome Beagle/Blue Tick hound mix is 2-3 years old and weighs in at 35lbs. He came into rescue after being found abandoned and clearly had been neglected. The poor boy was malnourished and both his ears were infected. As if that weren’t enough, he was positive for heart worms and ehrlichiosis (a tick-borne infection). Thankfully, those bad days are all behind him! He’s been fully vetted and now has a clean bill of health with the green light for adoption! His foster family has shown him the wonderful world of human kindness and love....good food, fresh water, a warm bed, lap time, play time and walks! Jonesy's forever family will find a great companion in him!

His foster mom says he is a sweet boy! He can be bit reserved when he first meets new people, but he’s a friendly dog and, once he feels comfortable and gets to know you, he will be your best pal! This boy loves being with his people! He is fostered with other dogs and has a great time running and playing chase with them so a canine playmate in his home is strongly preferred. At chow time, he sometimes gets a little greedy and likes to check the other dogs’ bowls in case anyone missed anything, but there's no confrontation....when they warn him off, he listens. We don’t know how Jonesy would react to cats as there are no kitties in his foster home; however, he’s been around chickens and does fine with feathered friends! Though he has not been fostered with children, he loves to play and we believe he would enjoy living with kids over 10.

Jonesy has come along with his house training and is good about going outdoors when taken. He does need watching as he hasn't yet learned to give cues that he has to go and there are occasional accidents. We feel that with supervision, a consistent routine and positive reinforcement, he'll have the hang of it in his new home in no time. He has been trained to sleep in his crate at night and will do short stints during the day but its not his favorite thing! He’ll be happiest in a home where his people are around most of the time. He walks well on leash; however, he is accustomed to a fenced yard. It'll be best if his new home also has a fenced yard so he’ll have plenty of opportunities to follow his beagle nose in a safe environment. Another thing you might like to know about this boy is that he loves to go for car rides! Those short legs don’t stop him from jumping right in to be your back seat co-pilot!

Jonesy has been neutered and is up to date on his vaccines. He is also micro-chipped and on flea, tick and heartworm preventative.
