Meet Jones-DAWGS
Jones is a very handsome, medium energy, 2 y.o., male Black Mouth Cur.
Black Mouth Cur dogs originated in the Southeast and are known to be active, kind, loyal, protective, and trainable.
Jones is good with other dogs and cats.
He initially exhibits some shyness but bonds well and is affectionate.
He is fond of his toys and his bed!
Jones was selected to participate in the DAWGS in prison program and graduated on March 8.
The DAWGS in prison program is an 8-week intensive training program in a work camp setting. Each dog has a handler, caretaker and trainer. All are inmates who are well trained themselves and dedicated to their dogs' success.
Graduates of the program are crate trained, house trained, walk well on a leash, and know many commands like sit, stay, come, and down. Dogs are temperament tested prior to admission and must get along well with other dogs and humans.
Jones is doing well in his foster home in New England, where he lives with another dog.
Please watch the short video of him practicing his heeling and control walking.
To adopt, please fill out an adoption application.
Applications for this dog are available online at www.dawgsinprison.com and are required for adoption.
