Meet Joey
Joey
Male
Shepherd Mix
DOB: 4/2/21, 25 pounds
Joey and his litter mates were rescued at 4 weeks old when their mama stopped feeding them and their human owner no longer wanted them. Joey plays well with the older children in the home and the 90 pound resident dog. Joey is super sweet and loves to nap. He loves to lay down to eat his meals because standing is too much effort! Joey loves squeaky toys and loves other dogs. Joey is neutered and has been given 3 rounds of puppy vaccines. His adopter will be responsible for the Rabies vaccine when he's old enough.
7/10/21 Update from Joey’s Maine foster: Joey is prone to being a human shadow, he loves to follow us around wherever we go. He’s sweet, a little chompy during play, but he takes redirection really well.
We’re still working on potty training, but we’re moving in the right direction (progress not perfection). He can be very cuddly, or he can be aloof and wander off for his own space. He’s also just put himself into his crate from time to time - we leave the door open during the day.
He is fine with the kids, but seems to enjoy coming to them on his own terms - he might like a bit less chaos than they bring to the table. He’s quite quiet, he has barked a handful of times, but it’s definitely not a daily occurrence and it seems to take a bit to trigger the reaction.
He really likes our dog, and wants to follow him around and play with him. There’s no issue between the two of them on either side, so a companion dog seems like a really good fit for Joey.
Adoption Fee: $450 (this covers previous expenses of the dog- appropriate vaccinations, altering, microchipping, and transportation fees.)
