-Personality: Active, smart, energetic, adventurous

-Can Live with Kids: Jimmy would do best with older kids or teens who have some prior dog experience and can read/respect canine body language, giving him space when he needs it.

-Can Live with Cats: Jimmy lived successfully with a cat in his previous home. He will need slow, supervised introductions to any new kitties to ensure they all get along.

-Can Live with Dogs: Potentially the right match pending an initial introduction here at the shelter. Jimmy was surrendered in part to being reactive to other dogs while on leash, but seems to tolerate calm/social dogs when introduced correctly. He would not be a good match for rough/rowdy dogs who will not respect his boundaries.

-Can do Apartment Living: No, Jimmy was surrendered because he was not compatible with apartment life. A heavily populated apartment setting with lots of dogs/unknowns is not going to be a place where Jimmy thrives. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal!

-Additional Information: Jimmy is a super smart cattledog mix with whiskers like a seal. He was surrendered to the shelter in hopes of finding a home in a more rural setting- his former owners lived in an apartment in busy downtown Bellingham where Jimmy struggled with dog/leash reactivity. Jimmy has gone through formal obedience training, unfortunately through a facility that used punishment based methods which can often make reactivity worse. Jimmy is highly food motivated and eager to please-- we expect him to pick up new skills in no time once provided with science-based, effective, positive reinforcement training from a dog-savvy handler. Jimmy already knows sit, down, stay, shake, and high five, and he takes treats very gently which is a plus!
