Jim Border Collie Eagle, MI

Jim was a trial dog as a young dog in Wales, then was bought by a woman in the Lansing area for breeding. He's been sitting in a kennel for the last 4-6 years, then the owner had a major stroke. He was trained to work sheep by Kevin Adams, who is well respected. The only reason Jim cannot work is his hearing. He is not totally deaf, however you need a sheepherder's whistle or to clap your hands, and she is not sure if he hears, or if he feels the vibration. So obviously herding would be hazardous for all. But he continues to have a strong herding drive. So he will need a physical fence for various reasons.

Jim is very sweet, loves everyone, but is clingy at first. He LOVES playing ball, and has a lot of energy. At first he was not good with other dogs, but wasn't neutered. Now he is, and she is introducing him to various other dogs and situations, and there have been no major issues. At this point she doesn't have a firm handle on how he gets along with cats or kids, however he was around both at the former owner's home. He is good in his kennel (clean) but not housebroken.
