We are monitoring our ability to show dogs based on Science Based CoVID guidance but are reviewing applications for the best fit for each dog.

Belle originally came from rural Missouri where he was pulled just hours before she was going to be euthanized due to their high kill rate. Belle is a bouncy girl with a fun personality. Belle is excited when she first sees you and will dance around in anticipation of your affection. At heart she is a love bug though, and will lean into you for pets and belly rubs. Bell has done very well in a home environment, while crated during the day. Belle is treat motivated, and is taking well to learning her commands. She also enjoys playing fetch, and will bound after the ball in a happy prance. Belle is a dog that is going to shower you with a lot of love, and will be appreciative of the safe, happy home she is provided with. She will return any love and joy she receives into your life 10 fold. For a fulfilling, purposeful life; look no further than this sweet girl.

Application Process

MAPS’s adoption process is designed to help best place dogs with homes that are in the best interest of the dog and their human companions. The adoption process starts with a prescreen review of a Guardian Application. Making decisions about dog placement in adoptive homes is an "art", not a "science", and there will be times when applications will be denied for various reason(s). This is left to the discretion of the MAPS after reviewing relevant information. MAPS reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care into a foster or adoptive home. There is absolutely no guarantee, made or implied, that any person or persons requesting to adopt a dog being fostered through MAPS, or posted on MAP's web site, will be granted an adoption. After a successful prescreen, including background checks, the applicant(s) are notified that they can visit the dogs and a time slot is made for the dog and applicant interaction. After the interaction we encourage several days of reflection before adopting a pet to help assure this will be a lifetime commitment of love and quality care for the dog. Next we conduct a home/neighborhood visit to the Guardian Applicant's home. If the home visit proves successful the new mom and/or dad of the dog will sign an Adoption Agreement and share a lifetime of love and mindful growth !

MAPS Dog Rescue Mission

Midwest Area Pit Stop, Inc. (MAPS) is a foster home based rescue located in Madison, Wisconsin established in 2005 after being part of the Chicago Illinois based rescue Furry Friends for several years. MAPS focuses on providing a structured, safe calm environment for the dogs in their care that helps them flourish. This structured home environment is complimented by exercise, Positive Reinforcement Deference Training, very high quality dog food in addition to a broad spectrum of proven food supplements including vitamins and supplements. In addition to fostering, MAPS provides sponsorship funds to help with the veterinary expenses and/or Breed DNA testing to save dogs in need of a rescue at the end of their options. MAPS has been active in the community promoting dog safety, how to build a healthy relationship with your dog, and fighting breed discrimination including breed testing of hundreds of dogs since December 2007. MAPS believes that dogs are a central component for people to have a more meaningful and purposeful life. That is, if people are willing to embrace mindfulness in daily living. Dogs help us connect to reality and make life worth living through example and deep bonds. MAPS is not about how many dogs are adopted in the shortest amount of time but rather measures to help insure the dogs that are adopted do not come back for the wrong reasons.
