Meet Jet! This gorgeous boy is available for Foster or Adoption! He is a 2-year old, 46-pound black lab/hound mix located in the South Boston area. He is sponsored by our friends at “A Place for Ace” and currently in a temporary Foster home. He requires a female head of household due to fear of men.

What’s unique about Jet’s situation is that he’s headed to a two-week board & train program, which is sure to set him up for success. Ideally a Foster or Adopter would be found so he can transition directly to a home setting as soon as his training is complete. This is a great opportunity for both Jet and his new person.

Jet wants everyone to know that he enjoys sunbathing above all else! He loves ANYTHING to do with going outside where he can lay in the sun. He likes training and getting in some solid chew time. Marrow bones and raw hides will keep him occupied for hours.

Originally from the Lone Star State, Jet was brought to New England for a new lease on life. Because of early neglect and abuse, he is easily startled, fearful, and slower to trust people. In response he is reactive to people and animals. It will take a while for him to come out of his shell, but the board and train is designed to increase confidence. That is one reason why his Foster/Adopter must be willing to continue with his newly learned skills.

We’ve learned that Jet responds better to women while he shows fear and barks at men he doesn’t know. Therefore he will need a confident female in his new family. The secret for nervous dogs like Jet is to let Jet be the one to first approach. Just let Jet be Jet and he will grow more comfortable as time passes. His issues are entirely fear-based and that takes patience and time.

It may be a needle in a haystack but Jet is worth searching for the following:
Committed person with experience in fear-based aggression
Low key household, not lots of coming and going
Small family, 1-2 female adults is ideal (16+)
Single home and fenced-in yard preferred
No kids or other dogs

Jet is up-to-date on shots, neutered, potty-trained, and crate-trained. Anyone interested in FOSTERING or FOSTER to adopt could email admin@aplaceforace.org Tell them ARK sent you! #ARKforJet #SaveThemAll
