Jersey was seized in a dog fighting investigation in September 2015 and lived at Animal Control for almost 3 years because her owner refused to sign her over. Legally, she must be held until her owner's case goes before a judge. The case was still pending, but he finally decided to sign her over to Macon-Bibb Animal Control. Jersey got her freedom ride on June 27, 2018 and will finally know the love of good humans.
Jersey is a wild-child. She is spunky, silly, and energetic so this little lady is sure to keep you laughing! Jersey loves people and is happy to entertain a crowd. She needs a bit of work on manners as living in a home environment will be a major adjustment for her. She tends to get excited and jumpy - because of this, we think she would do best with older children. She loves to zoom around the yard or roll in the grass with a toy in her mouth. After she has burned off some of her energy, she is happy to sit with her people and be loved on. This slap-happy, goofy girl is ready for a family of her very own that can give her the structure and she thrives on and the exercise she desires. Jersey tested positive for a tick borne illness called Babesia, commonly spread among dogs living on dog fighting yards. Babesia is almost similar to Lyme disease as one can live a long time (or even forever) without any symptoms. It has not effected Jersey one bit although there is a potential for symptoms to crop up later in life, requiring a few week medication regimen at that time. Because of this diagnosis, she will need to be the only dog in the home to avoid passing it on.
