Meet Jerrie

Jerrie is ready to share his story! ?

I would have been yours to the end. I loved you with all my heart. I loved my life...at least before I knew just how amazing it could be. You were my everything. I was so happy when you reclaimed me from that shelter. I knew you would come through. What I didn't understand is why you took me back to that shelter the very next day and surrendered me. It is one thing to put myself in the shelter when I go exploring, but when you did it...it seemed so...final.

I like to think that you wanted better for me. A home where I didn't wander off all the time. And I did find that. Granted, I was taken in by a rescue and landed in an amazing foster home...so I am not quite yet in my forever home....but I hope to be soon.

My name is Jerrie and I am a 3-year-old, 80lb male Great Pyrenees. Now that you have heard my story, it is time to get to know ME as my past does not define who I am.

_____________________________________________
The thing about adopting is you should not do it unless you are absolutely ready. That means you can commit to me for the rest of my life. I am going to be so loyal to my family, and I ask the same in return!

To help make the decision process easier, I had my foster family fill out this questionnaire for me!

-How does your foster act when meeting new people?
A little shy but friendly.

-Has your foster been to any public settings?
He has not been to any public outings.

-Does your foster like going on walks?
Jerrie LOVES going for walks and has excellent leash manners.

-Do you think your foster would enjoy going on hikes?
Yes.

-Is your foster leash trained?
Yes.

-How does your foster do on car rides?
Yes, he does well on car rides.

-Does your foster jump on people?
No.

-Describe your foster dog's energy level?
Calm and laid back.

-Is your foster a big chewer?
Has not done any chewing here.

-Does your foster like to play fetch?
No.

-Does your foster like to play in the
water?
Hates the water and does not like baths at all!

-Does your foster play with Toys?
No.

-Does your foster have food aggression?
No.

-Does your foster resource guard?
No.

-Does your foster jump fences?
Yes, he can jump over 4ft fencing so will need tall privacy fencing in his new home.

-Do you think your foster would be okay with free-roam of the house even if you are away?
Yes, he is doing very well inside the house.

-Is your foster potty trained?
Yes.

-Is your foster kennel trained?
No.

-Where does your foster stay when no one is home?
Free Roam.

-Where does your foster sleep at night?
Jerrie has free roam and can usually be found curled up on the couch in the morning, lol

-Would your foster dog do good in an apartment?
Yes, I believe as calm as he is and the fact that he loves going for walks would make him suitable for an apartment.

-Is your foster a big barker?
Not a big barker but does occasionally bark.

-Is your foster good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How does your foster act around other dogs?
Indifferent.

-Does your foster need another dog in his new home?
No.

-Is your foster good with cats?
Yes.

-Is your foster good with kids?
Yes, he is good with kids of any age.

-What would be your foster's ideal home?

Jerrie is very calm and easygoing. He would do well in either an apartment or a home setting. While he does enjoy hanging out with the other dogs he prefers not to play so far. He will give a low growl if they get in his face but he is just communicating that he prefers his space. He is not aggressive at all. He does well with other dogs, cats, and kids of all ages

-What else can you tell me about your foster?

Jerrie is new to this whole being loved on and getting to stay inside the house thing. He has been very shy and nervous as he figures out what it is all about. Watching him learn that everything is ok now and we are not going to hurt him has been so rewarding. Each day he opens up a little more and as he figures things out he does this little happy wiggle and it is the cutest thing! He will look at you with these shy eyes and give a little bit of a smile and then wiggle at you, lol. Understand that Jerrie is a rescue dog and things will be new and confusing to him for a long time but he is handling all these changes with absolute grace and he is nothing short of an amazing dog ??
____________________________________________________________________

Now that you know everything there is to know about me, it is time to talk logistics!

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Where are you being fostered?
I am being fostered in Skiatook, OK.

-Would I need to come to pick you up?
Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?

-Can I adopt you even though I don't live in Oklahoma?
Yep, I am not opposed to living in another state!

-How much is your adoption fee?

My adoption fee is $225.

That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. I will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
