Jenny's Story

Over 18 million dogs live on Mexico's streets. The Meximutt Project, a BAPBR initiative, tackles this crisis at the source—through comprehensive spay/neuter programs and by connecting rescued dogs with loving Oregon families.

Since 2019: 400+ dogs adopted, 3,200+ spayed/neutered.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? No cats.

• No cats.

• HOUSEBROKEN? Not 100% yet. Our dogs often need 1-2 weeks (sometimes more) of further training to become fully housebroken. While in group foster care, they aren’t in an environment where structured potty training is possible, as they often live in areas without access to grass or carpet.

• Currently in Guadalajara foster care. 2-4 weeks to arrange flight once adoption is approved

**MEET JENNY**

One look at Jenny's soulful brown eyes and you understand everything - they're crying out for love and affection with an intensity that's almost heartbreaking. This little mother has seen more than her share of hardship, rescued from an abusive household where she had to fend for herself and protect her puppies while surviving on scraps and enduring deplorable conditions.

When our local volunteers finally removed Jenny from this home, she was malnourished, defensive, and convinced that walls were safer than trust. Today, she's the complete opposite—a dog so full of devotion that we're amazed that her tiny, 6-pound body can hold so much love.

Which makes her story all the more heartbreaking. While her puppies all found families and moved on to wonderful lives, Jenny has been forgotten—waiting a nearly a year in foster care. Her body has mostly healed, but living in company of many other dogs has left her heart emotionally starved.

**A Heart Hungry for Connection**

Whenever Jenny sees her foster mom, she greets her with desperate joy, jumping into her arms as if she's been waiting all day for that exact moment.

"If Jenny could speak, she'd say 'I don't want to live with other dogs,'" her foster mom explains with obvious love and frustration. "She's starving for affection, and unfortunately, as one person taking care of many dogs, I just can’t give her that quality one-on-one time she desperately craves."

Jenny has spent this year proving she's perfectly tolerant of other dogs and cats - she never causes any problems. But tolerance isn't the same as happiness, and the chronic stress of waiting in a multi-dog environment has taken both an emotional and physical toll.

She arrived with an immune-related skin condition (papilloma) from years of poor nutrition and stress, and while it's improved considerably with good care, it hasn't fully cleared because her immune system can't recover while she remains in this anxious state of limbo.

This sweet girl is in desperate need of a home where she can be someone’s everything, where she can heal, body and soul.

**What Jenny needs**

Jenny isn't complicated. Her foster mom describes her as 'very easy and low-maintenance' - the kind of dog who's just content to lie at your feet while you work, or curl up beside you to watch TV. She's the perfect, teeny tiny size to accompany you on errands, to restaurants, and wherever else life takes you.

Her favorite hobby at the moment? Sunbathing alone in a quiet corner of the garden.

“Her personality probably seems boring right now,” her foster mom explains, “but that's because she hasn’t been able to fully bloom while sharing attention with so many others.” There’s no doubt that there’s so much more to her personality that we just haven’t been able to see yet.

Needless to say, Jenny would thrive as an only dog, where she can give and receive the abundant love that she needs to fully come out of her shell and thrive. After everything she's survived, Jenny still chooses hope over fear, love over defensiveness, trust over safety. She's not broken - she's just a dog with an enormous capacity for love, waiting for the right person to share it with.

Are you ready to be Jenny's whole world?

***************************************

READY TO APPLY?
