If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Jazzy, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application?(copy/paste the link into your browser). If you have completed an application in the last 3 months, you can email us at rescue@idogrescue.com and let us know you are interested in being considered for Jazzy-TX.

We will review your application and let you know if you made our short list of applicants. We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs - your understanding is appreciated.

We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for - we do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. Please realize that turning in an application today will not mean that you adopt a dog tomorrow. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. Our adoption process may take 2-4 weeks. You must be approved to adopt before we will schedule a meet and greet. Our adoption process involves vet and personal reference checks, phone interviews and a home visit.

AGE: 6 years old (born January 2014)

WEIGHT: 68#

FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is required. No electronic fences will be allowed.

COAT TYPE: Jazzy has a lower-shedding soft curly coat. He will need regular brushing and grooming to preventing matting. It is important for his new family to understand how important brushing is to maintain his coat. His new family should be prepared for the expense of having him groomed every 6-8 weeks.

ENERGY LEVEL: moderate

DOGS: Jazzy loves to play with the dogs in his home. He would LOVE a laid-back buddy to play with and to take social cues from due to his anxiety.

CATS: fine with cats

KIDS: he is frightened of larger boys

MEN: Jazzy is very frightened of all men so we feel his new home should not have any large boys or men who reside in the home. He does fine if he is crated when men come to his home since he feels safe in his crate.

CAR: initially scared but has no issues in the car - settles nicely once you get going.

CRATE: his crate is a safe place and he goes in well

HOUSE TRAINED: yes

LEASH: pulls on leash

Meet Jazzy Jeff-TX!

Jazzy is a 6 year old, 68# male Goldendoodle who was surrendered to IDOG due to his anxiety and fear toward the men in the home.

Are you looking for a plug-n-play dog that can go anywhere...meet anyone...and do anything...all the time. If so, stop reading. Jazzy Jeff is not the dog for you.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for an introverted guy that LOVES his momma and, once he trusts you, will give you his whole sweet heart, Jazzy IS your guy.

Quick run-down of what Jazzy Jeff is and isn’t.

Jazzy IS:

*An anxious dog - particularly anxious around men and older boys - even ones that he is familiar with. Jazz is currently on a low dose of medication for his anxiety. Jazzy’s anxiety is easily managed in a calm home and his foster momma will teach you all the tricks/tools that you need to make him happy in your home...with these tools and the right home, JJ will be your soul mate.

*An avid frisbee catcher - he likes them thrown high so he can eyeball them appropriately so he’ll need an owner that can throw a decent frisbee.

*A HUGE LOVER - once he figures out that you are his, he wants to sleep at your feet while you ZOOM and snuggle up next to you while you binge Dead to Me...he wants to be the reason you cancel plans that you wanted to cancel anyway.

*A bed mate. He LOVES being in the bed next to you.

*House and crate trained

*Fine at the vet, groomer and boarding - in spite of his anxiety, he does not have issues going to the vet, groomer or boarding...he is scared but can be handled. He has shown no aggression in any setting.

*Friendly with other dogs - he LOVES his foster brother (foster brother is a soft-hearted guy who doesn’t want any sort of trouble) but he sometimes annoys his foster sister (foster sister can be rude)...he does want to resource guard his frisbee so, if there is another dog in the home, toy management is a must to prevent any dog vs. dog issues.

*LOVED by his foster mom...and she will hold your hand through the transition process if you are the lucky gal that gets to adopt this sweet baby.

*Recovering from skin issues - when he came into rescue, he was recovering from a possible yeast infection from allergies. His hair and skin was in rough shape. He is not currently itchy or on meds for allergies and has thrived with regular baths, very good food and probiotics. His hair consistency has changed from curly to flat on some areas of his body due to this.

*A mature 6 year old buddy. He knows how to behave in the house and doesn’t want to redesign your coffee table legs or tear up your shoes.

Jazzy ISN’T:

-A dog park dog
-An out and about dog
-A plug-n-play dog that will easily transition into any setting
-A dog that will be comfortable in his new home the first few days - he will need time to decompress.

Jazzy would love nothing better than to get a couple of sessions of frisbee in with you each day. He loves snuggles in bed and will let you know he needs attention by tapping you with his paw.

Jazzy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, crate and house trained. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm/flea and tick preventatives.

ADOPTION FEE: in lieu of an adoption fee, IDOG will hold a $250 refundable training deposit to encourage his new family to go through training with him and set him up for success in his new home. This will be refunded upon proof of positive reinforcement training sessions.

OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog.
The following is a general guide, but each dog is assessed individually.
It currently costs IDOG an average of $400 for basic vet, grooming and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs or are heartworm positive.

ADOPTION FEES:
Under 6 months $550 and up
6 months – 2 years $450 and up
?2 years- 4 years $350 and up
4 years + $100 and up
Special needs/donation assessed on individual basis
