Jayda Jack Russell Terrier Mix McHenry, IL

This is Jayda and she is quite a well-mannered lady. Jayda is a 7 to 8 year old Jack Russell terrier mix. She always goes to the bathroom outside - she waits quietly by the door for you to put the leash on and really enjoys a pleasant stroll around the yard or down the sidewalk. She can sleep quietly in her kennel all night. She enjoys squeaky toys, chewing on bones and will even play fetch with you. She also likes a good lap and cuddle whenever it is offered. Jayda is a very mellow, sweet girl who enjoys the quiet side of life (she is a country gal and city life would probably not be her choice). She can be a little timid at first but warmed up nicely in just a day or two with us. At 18 pounds, this little lady would be a great companion for a condo dweller or a more mature person looking for a sweet dog pal. Like with any lady, she is open to improving her manners – she does tend to gobble her food, but a slow bowl feeder was helpful with that. We are working on taking treats gently and some basic commands like sit, wait and lie down. She does show a little food guarding with her two foster dog siblings but, as a human, I can take a bone away from her with no issues. These areas of improvement are no surprise because Jayda spent most of her first six years of life outside at the end of a chain. She is amazing despite this rough beginning! She is fine day-to-day with her two foster dog siblings and seems to enjoy interacting with children who are gentle with her.
